About the Interventionist Camilla Kuylenstierna

The disease of addiction is one of the most stigmatized and harmful diseases in our society, often associated with shame and guilt. Unfortunately, this leads to us not talking about the disease as much as we should, which means that many sufferers do not get the help they need - neither the addicts themselves nor their loved ones. This has serious consequences, such as broken families, emotional illness, financial problems, inefficiency in the workplace, and tragic events such as violence and accidents.
My goal is to counteract the disease of addiction and help both the affected and their relatives to take responsibility, through respect, integrity, love and compassion. Together we can make a difference and create a better future.
Therefore, since 2012, I, Camilla Kuylenstierna, have worked as a certified ARISE interventionist (CAI), where I have had the privilege of helping people overcome addiction. My journey began back in 2007 when I lived and worked in the USA. As a sober alcoholic since 2005, I had the opportunity to discover the deep knowledge and expertise that exists around alcohol addiction, including interventions.
With my background in business and my own experiences with addiction, I quickly realized that there was a great need for these services here in the Nordics. In Sweden, we are often careful about "getting involved" in other people's lives, which can sometimes be perceived as violating privacy. This makes many who are close to an addict, such as family, friends, managers and colleagues shy away from intervening for fear of being rejected or making the situation worse. This creates a sensitive and difficult situation that can be almost impossible to manage without the right support.
I strive to work with alcohol and other addictions in a loving and non-judgmental way, completely free of guilt or shame. The methodology I am trained in, ARISE Invitational Intervention, aims to create an equal and respectful relationship between the addict and their loved ones. To ensure the best possible support, I have also established international collaborations with experts in Scotland, Spain, South Africa and the USA, among others. This gives access to more treatment options than what is traditionally offered in Swedish healthcare, and also helps relatives get the support they need, for example to deal with co-dependency.
